Best Agents for Split in Valorant (2026): Pro Picks, Team Comps and Site Tips
Viper and Omen rule Split in 2026, backed by Fade, Raze, Neon and Yoru. See what pros picked at Champions Shanghai, two team comps, A, mid and B tips, and why Split is currently out of the ranked map pool.

Split is Valorant's tightest, most vertical map. Two compact sites sit at the ends of a crowded mid, and both have high "Heaven" positions that defenders love to hold. Teams that win Split control mid, smoke the high ground and break chokes with utility instead of dry peeks.
Quick answer: the best agents for Split in 2026 are Viper and Omen as controllers, Fade or Skye as initiators, Raze, Neon or Yoru as duelists, and Cypher, Sage or Chamber if you want a sentinel. At Champions Shanghai 2026, pro teams picked Viper in roughly nine of every ten Split maps and paired her with Omen. One thing to know first: Split left the Competitive and Premier pool on 13 October 2026, so right now you will only find it in Unrated, Swiftplay and other casual modes.
Is Split in the Valorant map pool right now?
No. Patch 13.08 (13 October 2026) took Ascent and Split out of Competitive and Deathmatch and brought Bind and Corrode back. The ranked pool for the current act is:
Abyss, Bind, Corrode, Haven, Lotus, Summit and Sunset
Riot changes the pool at the start of most acts, and Split has rotated out and back in several times. Learning it is still worth it: it is playable in unrated modes and tends to come back. You can read the change in the official patch 13.08 notes.

Split map at a glance
Two sites, A and B. Both are small, so one good smoke or molly covers a lot of space.
A busy mid. Mid Top, Mail and Vent connect to both sites. Mail leads towards A Ramps and Vent towards B Heaven, so whoever owns mid can split either site.
Heaven on both sites. Defenders on A Heaven and B Heaven look down on the plant spots. Attackers must smoke or flash them before entering.
Narrow mains. A Main and B Main are long, tight corridors, perfect for walls, mollies and Raze grenades.
This is why controllers who can cut sightlines and initiators who clear tight corners rule Split.
What pros picked on Split in 2026
These are approximate pick rates on Split at Champions Shanghai 2026 (October 2026, won by LOUD), based on 11 maps played.
Agent | Role | Pro pick rate on Split | Why it works |
Viper | Controller | About 91% | Toxic Screen cuts A or B in half, Poison Cloud blocks Heaven |
Omen | Controller | About 82% | Fast Dark Cover smokes, Shrouded Step to sneaky Heaven angles |
Neon | Duelist | About 68% | Sprints through narrow mains before defenders react |
Fade | Initiator | About 64% | Haunt and Prowlers clear tight corners and Heaven |
Yoru | Duelist | About 55% | Gatecrash teleports and fakes break mid control |
Raze | Duelist | About 32% | Paint Shells and Boom Bot clear cramped mains |
Skye | Initiator | About 27% | Guiding Light flashes over walls, Regrowth heals |
Chamber | Sentinel | About 23% | Operator angles from Heaven and mid |
Two patterns stand out. Pros almost always run double controller (Viper + Omen) on Split, and many teams skip a classic trap sentinel like Cypher or Killjoy. Sova was not picked on Split at all, because the walls are too close for his Recon Bolt to be safe value.
Best agents for each part of Split
A site: Viper and Fade
A is the bigger site, with Main, Ramps, Heaven, Rafters and Screens all watching the plant. A Viper wall from A Main through the site blocks Heaven and Screens in one go, so attackers can plant behind it. Fade's Haunt reveals anyone holding Heaven or Rafters, and her Prowlers chase players out of corners.
Mid: Omen, Yoru and Neon
Mid decides most rounds. Omen can smoke Mail and Vent quickly and teleport to off-angles. Yoru uses Gatecrash to fake a mid push and then appear on the other side. Neon's Fast Lane walls let attackers sprint across Mid Top safely. On defence, a sentinel or Chamber with an Operator can lock mid alone.
B site: Raze and Skye
B is small and boxy. Raze's Paint Shells and Boom Bot clear B Main and Garage, and Blast Pack can boost her onto site. Skye's Guiding Light curves over walls to flash Heaven, and her Regrowth keeps the team healthy for the next fight.
Best Split team comps
Pro-style comp: Viper, Omen, Fade, Neon, Yoru
This is the most common shape at the top level in 2026. Two controllers smoke every Heaven and choke, Fade gathers information, and two duelists (Neon and Yoru) create space through speed and fakes. It needs good communication and practised Viper walls.
Ranked-friendly comp: Viper, Omen, Skye, Raze, Cypher
Easier for solo queue. Skye heals and flashes, Raze clears corners without needing a perfect setup, and Cypher watches the flank through Mid Vent or B Link so your team doesn't get backstabbed.
Budget swaps
Clove for Omen if you like smoking after death (note that patch 13.09 slightly nerfed Clove's Pick-me-up).
Sage for Cypher if your team needs a wall to stop rushes and heals.
Gekko for Skye if you want Wingman to plant on these small sites.
If your aim is still developing, Sage, Cypher and Viper are good Split picks. See our guide to the best Valorant agents for bad aim.
Attack and defence tips for Split
On attack
Take mid early. Even one player in Mail or Vent forces defenders to rotate early.
Always smoke Heaven before entering a site. Never walk under an unsmoked Heaven.
Fake one site through mid, then hit the other. Split's short rotations punish slow teams, but the narrow mains also slow defenders.
On defence
Hold Heaven with utility first, guns second. Mollies and slows in the mains buy time.
Push mid with two players early in some rounds. It gives information and breaks attacker timings.
Retake together. Both sites are small, so a single retaker is easy to trade.

Agents that struggle on Split
Sova: tight walls and close angles make Recon Bolt and Shock Bolt hard to use well.
Harbor and Astra: they can work, but most teams get more value from Viper and Omen here.
Killjoy: her setups are easy to break on such small sites, and pros rarely picked her on Split in 2026.
The verdict
Lock in Viper and Omen for control, add Fade or Skye to clear corners, and pick Raze, Neon or Yoru for entry. Add Cypher or Sage in ranked if your team needs a sentinel. Split is out of the ranked pool for now, so practise it in Unrated or Swiftplay and you'll be ready when it returns. Planning for maps that are in rotation? Read our guides to Haven and Lotus.
