Why the IPL 2025 schedule changed
On 8 May 2025, the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala was stopped after 10.1 overs (Punjab were 122/1) when floodlights were switched off amid the security situation. The next day the BCCI suspended the tournament for a week. A revised schedule followed on 12 May: the remaining league games restarted on 17 May across six venues, and the playoffs were moved to Mullanpur (New Chandigarh) and Ahmedabad. Several overseas players did not return for the second half, so teams used temporary replacements.
